Jan’s July & August 2013 Garden Tours

Jan’s July & August 2013 Garden Tours

This summer went by really fast!  Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the motivation to write anything in my garden journal, but I did manage to get several new projects going and keep up with the daily grind of garden maintenance and watering.  I also took lots of pictures and filmed two video tours of the garden for July and August.  The photo to the right is a picture of my Giant Mammoth sunflower.  They get so big and heavy that most of them can’t even hold themselves upright when they get to full growth, but this one did great this summer!  It was also a volunteer sunflower.  I don’t know how the seed got over there near my driveway, but I’m sure glad it did!  I will actually get some eatable sunflower seeds from this one.  Below are the links to my garden videos which are shorter this time around, thank goodness:

Now that the weather is cooling off and the days are getting shorter there will hopefully be more time for catching up on my garden journal writing.  Before November I want to try to get up posts on the following subjects:

  1. Hen Pecking Problem
  2. Potato Experiment in Straw Post #2
  3. Mason Bees Post #3
  4. Creating a Bee Happy Garden
  5. Medicinal Herbs: Calendula & Camomile & Lemon Balm
  6. Italian Herb Garden & Italian Herbal Spice Mix
  7. Making Sauerkraut
  8. Squash Varieties 2013
  9. More recipes

Wish me luck!
